I have been involved with horses for most of my life. I have competed extensively in dressage and show jumping, owned and bred winning eventers and show jumpers and, in addition to being a qualified Equestrian Shiatsu Practitioner, I am a listed dressage judge and freelance instructor. After competing at the National Dressage Championships, my 9-year old Thoroughbred started to under-perform and was diagnosed with chronic DJD of the hocks and kissing spine, and I was advised that he would be best suited for light hacking.

Having found acupuncture extremely helpful myself whilst undergoing treatment for a critical illness I decided that I would investigate complimentary therapies for equines. I went on to study for three and a half years and obtained a Diploma in Shiatsu for Horse and Rider from the Scottish School of Equine Shiatsu and am a practitioner member of the Equine Shiatsu Association (tESA). During the time that I was studying my horse received many Shiatsu sessions. He returned to work and subsequently qualified for and was placed at the British Dressage Regional Championships.
I have also studied with Elaine Liechti, principle of Glasgow School of Shiatsu for a certificate in On-site human shiatsu.
I am able to offer Shiatsu treatments at my own stables on the Solway Coast or can travel to the horse’s own yard. I work throughout Dumfries & Galloway, Cumbria, Northumberland & Southern Scotland although will travel further afield if required. I am able to do whole days in one location and am happy to combine shiatsu treatments (both equine & human) with dressage or other riding tuition if required.
